This exhibition brings together a collection of ten instruments that have formed part of Phonos from its beginnings: synthesizers, tape recorders, samplers and other electronic devices, old and new, which may be seen and heard here. The exhibition presents the activity of Phonos in connection with research on sound technologies, composition by new means, and dissemination of innovative musical proposals.
Various generations of composers have been involved with the Laboratory thanks to the educational activity carried out by the Chilean composer Gabriel Brnčić. At the present time, Phonos continues to promote music through the use of technological tools in the Music Technology Group of Barcelona's Pompeu Fabra University.
