Open Day on Thursday 18th May. International Museum Day

Montjuïc Castle will hold an open day to celebrate the International Museum Day. Entrance to the castle premises will be free of charge all day. People visiting the castle that day will have access to the Montjuïc Visitor Centre as well as to the temporary exhibition "Montjuïc 100 years of posters".

Exhibition "Montjuïc 100 years of posters"

On April 06 is the openning of the exhibition "Montjuïc 100 years of posters" which will be displayed at room 20 of the parade ground of the castle. The exhibition shows the most relevant events that have taken place in Montjuïc, from the twentieth century to the present, through the most iconic posters from all periods.

Free entrance to the Castle of Montjuïc on the first Sunday of the month

From Sunday 02 April every first Sunday of the month the entrance to the Castle of Montjuïc will be free all day. This new rate is added to the free entry of every Sunday of the year from 3pm. Take advantage of the first Sunday of the month to visit the Castle, know its architecture, revive its memory and enjoy the best views of the city for free!

Familiar activities series, 2017

The Castle of Montjuïc presents the family activities series of 2017. On Sunday evenings from 4 to 7 pm in April and May, the Castle of Montjuïc will host a series of activities for the entire family. The parade ground will be transformed into a labyrinth, giant puppets will visit the castle, you’ll be able to learn to ride a unicycle and to spin a diabolo, there will be concerts for singing and dancing and there will be workshops to make handicrafts. Access to the Castle and the activities will be free of charge. Everybody is invited.

Cycle of activities “Afternoons of July”

The Castle of Montjuïc presents the cycle “Afternoons of July”. On Sundays in July (the 3rd, the 10th, the 17th and the 24th), from 7pm to 10pm, you can come to the Castle and relax in a privileged environment enjoying a night of good music and great views to the sea.

Jazz, Boss nova, Soul and Jazz Manouche concerts will make the nights of July very nice and special. The concerts begin at 7.30pm. Both the shows and the entrance to the Castle are free. A shuttle bus service between the Castle and Plaza España is provided from 9.45pm to 10.30pm.

Cycle of shows “Nights of Summer” at the Castle of Montjuïc

The cycle "Nights of Summer" will be held, once again, on Fridays during the month of June in the Parade Ground of the Castle. For three nights, the 3rd, the 10th and the 17th of June, the Castle will be a place to enjoy artistic performances and delicious food truck dishes. The entrance to the Castle is free after 8pm and the performances are also free of charge. A shuttle bus service between the Castle and Plaza España is provided from 10pm to midnight.

With the arrival of spring, the open air afternoon snacks at the Castle come back. During four Sunday afternoons of May, the 8th, the 15th, the 22nd and the 29th, the Moat of Santa Elena will be a place to relax on the grass and enjoy some music and different activities, such as street games, magic, circus and swing. The entrance to the Castle on Sundays is free after 3pm.

The Castle invites the visitors to finish the mural of Philip Stanton

On Sunday the 3rd of April, after 3pm, the visitors of the Castle will be able to help to complete the mural that the artist Philip Stanton is painting at the Parade Ground. Stanton is responsible for the artistic exposition carried out during the last month "The flowers of the Peace". He will complete his work with a big mural on the 3rd of April and everybody is invited to help him out with the work.

Exhibition "Forestier in Montjuïc, the garden as a piece of art"

The temporary exhibition "Forestier in Montjuïc, the garden as a piece of art" will be shown in the room number 20 of the Parade Ground, from the 31st of March to the 2nd of October. The display commemorates the centenary of the beginning of the intervention of Forestier in Montjuïc. The exposition includes unpublished plans of the work of the artist and his disciple, Rubió i Tudurí.

Art Intervention by Philip Stanton

From the 1st of April, the artist Philip Stanton will carry out an artistic intervention in different places of the Castle of Montjuïc. The spirit of the project is the pacifism and the fight against the war and the violence from a positive approach. The exhibition intends to subvert the negative history of the Castle, offering a new image and energy through a peace symbol as iconic and powerful as the flowers.

The Mobile World Congress faces the Castle of Montjuïc

On 22th, 23th and 24th February Barcelona celebrates the "Mobile World Congress", an event that will bring to the city more than 100.000 visitors. Castle has already received some of the conference attendants, some as famous as Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of the social network Facebook, which has post pictures of the Castle in their profile.

New information boards at the Castle

The Castle has new information boards explaining the architectural structure of the building and various historical events of great importance for the Castle, Barcelona and Catalonia. The panels are located in different parts of the enclosure , as the bastion of Santa Amalia, the parade ground or Ravelin and have photographs or maps that help visitors to know how the Castle is and the past events in its history.
