Application period open for the call with 128 places for City Police officers

Safety and prevention. The application period is from 30 November to 21 December.

Anybody interested in applying to take part in the competitive exams for this recruitment call can do so from Thursday, 30 November, to 21 December. This is the first time that applicants must have at least baccalaureate qualifications or equivalent, in line with the adapted Act on Local Police from the Government of Catalonia. The goal of the new call is to continue to strengthen the corps and offer a better service to the public.

Besides accrediting at least a baccalaureate qualification or equivalent, all the other conditions from previous calls remain, such as:

  • 40% of places reserved for women.
  • Foreign language tests, which are not eliminatory but can improve candidates’ marks, with up to seven languages recognised: German, English, Arabic, French, Italian, Urdu and Chinese.

Those gaining places will be able to start the training course at the Police School in October 2024. There is also a possibility of adding more places needed to cover future vacancies coming up in 2024 and opening them up to candidates taking part in the process, once the recruitment process is approved, for them to join the corps in 2025.

How to access the corps

The process to join the City Police consists of seven tests: a cultural and theoretical test, aptitude tests, a foreign language test, a physical aptitude test, a Catalan test, personality and skills tests and medical tests. You can find the requisites for the tests in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia (DOGC).

Applications can also be made online using the Barcelona City Council website (public vacancies section) and the procedures website. As an exceptional measure, candidates can also submit applications via the General Register at Barcelona City Council or through any of the means contemplated under the legal regime for public administrations and common administrative procedures.

Besides checking the rules, candidates can also use the public vacancies website for processing applications online and paying the corresponding fee for the public vacancies process.
