The aim of this line of grants is to support exceptional projects that include, improvements in digitalisation and innovation as applied to the management, promotion, evaluation and dissemination of tourism destinations and the tourism sector.
The procedure for awarding these grants falls within the framework of the European Union's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan - Next Generation EU (hereinafter RTRP); established by Royal Decree-Law 36/2020, of 30 December, which approves urgent measures for the modernisation of public administration and for the implementation of the RTRP; and by Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094 of 14 December 2020 which establishes a European Union recovery mechanism to support recovery from the Covid-19 crisis, and regulated by Regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament and the Council of 12 February 2021, which establishes the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.
CATEGORIES
CATEGORY 1: MARKETING DIGITISATION PROJECTS
AIM: Development of digitalisation projects that have an impact on improving the marketing potential and strategy for Barcelona's tourism products and services.
CATEGORY 2: CREATION AND CONSOLIDATION OF DESTINATION DATA, TOOLS AND DIGITAL ASSETS
AIM: Creation and consolidation of data, tools and digital assets that support the global positioning and leadership of Barcelona as a tourist destination.
CATEGORY 3: OTHER INITIATIVES BASED ON DIGITALISATION, TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION OR SUSTAINABILITY
AIM: Other initiatives based on digitalisation, technological innovation and sustainability that improve the competitiveness and efficiency of companies represented by the organisations concerned, optimising and making their operations more profitable, and favouring the creation of competitive new products and services, and above all those that ensure that their activities are a better fit with the city.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS AND/OR BENEFICIARIES
Grants may be awarded to non-profit organisations whose purpose is to ensure the efficiency of activities related to Barcelona's visitor economy, and that are:
a) Associations, foundations, or business organisations related to the Barcelona visitor economy that involve a significant number of companies or freelancers, notwithstanding the fact that they may have an impact beyond the municipal territory. In other words entities that encompass all the services that constitute Barcelona's tourism offer.
b) Second tier organisations, i.e. organisations formed by legal entities of an associative nature, such as federations or confederations, which bring together a significant number of first or higher tier organisations also linked to the city of Barcelona's visitor economy, in the same sense as in sub-section a).
Furthermore, in order to be considered eligible as beneficiaries, the above-mentioned legal entities must operate and have an establishment in the city of Barcelona, and be active in the tourism sectors of the visitor economy of Barcelona as an urban destination.
Section 9 of the terms and conditions sets out the other requirements that applicants need to fulfil in order to be eligible to receive these grants.
APPLICATION PERIOD
The application period will open on the day following the publication of this call in the BOBP [Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona], and close on 16 September 2024.
FORM
The application and the other key documents required for participation in the process must be submitted electronically using the specified forms, which need to be duly completed and signed by the applicant's legal representative, or a person accredited for this purpose, by means of a digital certificate.
The forms must be completed following the instructions provided in the procedures portal, and submitted via the City Council e-office to the following address at the corresponding procedure that will be opened for this call.
