Lectures and courses

Primitive phonography and interpretation from historical recordings.

09.12.2021

Mark Katz has carefully investigated the relationship between music and technology, and particularly the influence that early phonography (the first recording technologies) had on live performance. His presentation is part of the complementary activities of the exhibition "Joan Manén, orgull i destí" and focuses on several of the first recordings in the history of records, the Violin Concertos by L.V. Beethoven, M. Bruch and F. Mendelssohn made by Manén. These, previously unpublished, were located and digitized at the Espai de Documentació i Recerca del Museu de la Música de Barcelona.

You can attend this conference in person and virtually. It is aimed at students of music and the public.
