Barcelona bolsters its commitment to citizenship rights

City of rights. The Municipality is still acting on the defense of rights through multiple actions.
Within the framework of the “Barcelona, city of rights” program, started by the Directorate of Citizenship and Diversity Rights in 2016 of Barcelona municipality, on May 7 a new phase of the Office for Non-Discrimination was launched, a public service to address situations of human rights violations and fight against discrimination.
On the same line, and in the framework of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 20th anniversary of the celebration in Barcelona of the I European Conference of Cities for Human Rights, Barcelona City Council is currently preparing for next December 10th and 11th, the United Cities for Rights International Conference, a meeting place and an alliance between cities where to defend full citizenship, human rights and democracy.
Migrations and the situation of refuge, municipalism and good practices on human rights, as well as feminisms and their relationship with human rights will be the focus of this conference, echoing the problems, concerns and demands for which is going through today’s society.
