Spain-India Council Foundation

Definition

The Spain-India Council Foundation is a private cultural entity, which started its activity in 2009.  It receives support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and has a Board of Trustees that at the same time is a platform of the civil society and in which there is a representation from diverse administrations - central, autonomic and local.

Spain-China Council Foundation

Definition

The Spain-China Council Foundation is a private non-profit making entity, which was constituted in 2004.  It is linked to the Administration, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.  It has a Board of Trustees that gathers together companies, universities, city councils, business schools, and cultural and sports entities.

Spain-Japan Council Foundation

Definition

The Spain-Japan Council Foundation is a private non-profit making entity, created in 2001.  It is linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.  It has a Board of Trustees that gathers together various entities and institutions such as banks, companies, universities and city councils.  

Casa Àsia

Definition

Casa Àsia is a consortium formed by the City Council of Barcelona, the city Council of Madrid, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation through its Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development.  It was created in 2001.

Yokohama

On March 25, 2015, a first collaboration agreement was signed between Barcelona and Yokohama, focused on smart city and lasting four years. Subsequently, on March 29, 2019, a new "Friendship and Cooperation Agreement" was signed between the two cities, through which it was agreed to promote reciprocal cooperation for four years in areas such as smart city, renewable energy, circular society, transport and city promotion.

Ningbo

Information

On 27th October 1996 the mayors of Ningbo and Barcelona signed a cooperation agreement between the two cities with an indefinite duration.

This agreement establishes the will to promote reciprocal knowledge and strengthen the cooperation between both cities, and within its framework various contacts have been made.

Guangzhou

Information

On 29th October 2003 the mayors of Guangzhou and Barcelona signed an agreement of exchange and cooperation between the two cities with an indefinite duration in areas such as culture or economic promotion.

Guangzhou occupies, like Barcelona, the co-presidency of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and the Metropolis association.

Isfahan

Information

The protocol of friendship and cooperation between the city of Isfahan and Barcelona  was signed on 14th January 2000 with an indefinite duration.

Shanghai

Information

The protocol of twinning between Barcelona and Shanghai was formalised on 31st October 2001. On 24th July 2006 an addenda was signed, in which the fields of collaboration which were considered to be a priority, were defined. 

Kōbe

Information

On 6th April 1993 the Mayors of Kobe and Barcelona signed the twinning agreement between both cities.  Beforehand, in 1991, the two cities had already expressed the will to become twinned with the signature of a Letter of Intent. 

 The twinning agreement establishes a programme of cultural, educational, economic and technological exchanges, so as to increase the understanding and knowledge of common interests.
