“The gastronomic revolution continues in Barcelona” is a campaign at a national and international level, promoting the city’s excellence in this sphere. The goals are to add vitality to the restaurant sector, hit hard by the pandemic, and to tourism, attracting cultural tourism with significant spending power.

Promoted by Barcelona Turisme, the initiative gets under way in June and is based on chefs behind some of the world’s leading restaurants. The promotional video features chefs such as Ferran Adrià, Joan Roca and Carme Ruscalleda. Other factors to be emphasised are the fact that the city is a testing ground for many young chefs, and the use of local produce to bring fine cuisine to a broader public.

The four themes for the campaign are based on the predominant values in fine cuisine in the city: ingenuity in innovation, respect for tradition while looking to the future, sustainability and seasonal local produce.

There are nearly 5,600 restaurants and over 3,000 bars in Barcelona. According to the latest report on tourist activity, trying the cuisine in the city in the main activity among visitors to the city, accounting for 92.4%.
