The second “Barcelona Monument Hotel Tours”, held from 22 to 26 November this year, has been extremely successful in population terms, with more of 750 visitors. Of the 20 Barcelona hotels awarded this special title by the Barcelona Hotel Guild, 15 took part in the tours. This distinction is granted to those hotels that give added value to our city’s architectural heritage. They are all unique and very special, one might even say treasures, with very significant historical and cultural ties to Barcelona. The first edition, which was held in 2022, was fully sold out for all the guided tours and attracted over 500 participants.
These tours give participants the chance to discover cultural sites and resources as emblematic and significant for the city as the old Roman wall and Defence Tower 28 at Mercer Hotel Barcelona; the pre-Columbian art exhibition at the Sala Museu room of Claris Hotel & Spa GL, which is located at the old Palau Vedruna, featuring a wide range of pieces from Mayan and pre-Columbian culture; noble sites, such as the famous Sala de les Sirenes and Sala Arnau rooms at Hotel España Ramblas, a hidden gem of Catalan Modernisme; the Art Nouveau façade of the Bagués hotel; details of the building complex known as “Cases Cerdà” at the Catalonia Eixample 1864 hotel; the collection of Asian art featuring a great variety of Indian and Cambodian art dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries AD at the Granados 83 hotel; the Neoclassical façade of the Le Méridien Barcelona hotel; the main staircase and original windows of the Banco de Créditos de España, which now houses the Iberostar Selection Paseo de Gracia hotel; the Louis XV Versailles-style lounge and breathtaking marble fireplace at the Continental Palacete hotel; the majestic 18th-century building that houses the Duquesa Suites hotel; the unique views of Barcelona that can be enjoyed from the Gran Hotel La Florida; the 19th-century Palauet currently housing the Hotel Miramar Barcelona; the 1881 building designed by the Catalan architect Josep Oriol Mestres that used to house the Compañía General de Tabacos de Filipinas and now contains the H1898 hotel; the former Palau dels Quatre Rius in the city’s Gothic quarter, which now houses the Arai 4*S Monument aparthotel, or the historic Passatge de les Manufactures alley which is now part of the Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa.
