Twenty years of the AVE Cities Network

The goal of the association is to promote the destinations on the network and synergies between them.

Barcelona is part of the network of 34 AVE destinations

The AVE Cities Network organised a meeting in Zaragoza with travel agencies from Barcelona, Madrid and Zaragoza, in collaboration with the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agents, RENFE and Zaragoza Turismo.

The meeting was also a chance to celebrate the network’s twentieth anniversary with the addition of Gijón as a new AVE destination. A technical session was also organised during the meeting to analyse future projects and the trajectory of the organisation.

The AVE Cities Network started life in Zaragoza as an initiative by cities and municipalities connected by rail with the Spanish AVE high-speed rail infrastructure and with stations where AVE trains stop. Its goal is to promote the destinations on the network and synergies between them, to add vitality to the network and offer a first-class tourist service.
