Barcelona LGBTI Centre, in collaboration with the Casal Lambda, is offering the photography exhibitions “Un petó teu” [A Kiss of Yours] from 7 February, curated by the audiovisual producer and director Peter Toro.
In Toro’s words, the exhibition highlights “the importance of the kiss between people of the same sex as a powerful visual expression that embodies the power of affection and of love”. It also shows how the dissident kiss has been relegated to a secondary role in the last forty years. At the same time, it insists on the need for greater visibility to foster the “normalisation of homosexual relationships”, explains the curator.
Toro’s research includes photographs showing the kiss as a form of protest and an expression of identity and resistance, a way of challenging social norms. The images capture moments where the kiss becomes an “audacious expression of identity and resistance, challenging social norms and contributing to the struggle for acceptance and equality”.
The exhibition is on until 7 March during the usual opening hours of the Barcelona LGBTI Centre.
