Barcelona to participate in the annual Rainbow Cities Network meeting

Barcelona is a member and founder of the Rainbow Cities Network, a network of cities created in 2011 along with Amsterdam, Cologne and Turin. It currently has 61 member cities around the world. Its purpose is to exchange good practices, actions and initiatives between member cities with the aim of increasing the impact of local LGBTI policies.

The thirteenth annual meeting of the Rainbow Cities Network was held in Mexico City from 28 to 30 October, with municipal representatives from various member cities taking part, including Barcelona City Council.

The meeting addressed issues like different tools for preventing and eliminating hate speech on social media, the mental health of the LGBTIQ+ community, LGBTIQ+ education in schools and the situation of LGBTIQ+ migrants or refugees, among other topics.

The purpose of the Rainbow Network is to establish protocols for cooperation with other cities to promote LGBTI rights, exchange best practices, and collaborate among the different member administrations to promote sexual and gender diversity policies.
