Gato Negro celebrates its 150th anniversary

The company Ferrer Musical, manufacturer of guitar strings and other instruments, celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. It was founded in 1868 in Vic by Juan Ferrer i Jordà, but in 1941 the factory moved to Barcelona and the harmonic strings that they produce are used by insigne cellists, violinists, harpists and guitarists. A few years later, in 1949, the nylon monofilament appears, and with him, the rope Gato Negro is born, the oldest and most famous guitar string produced in our country.

Currently, Ferrer Musical is dedicated to the distribution of musical instruments and accessories, and to the manufacture of various types and games of strings and strings. It is characterized by its craftmanship, thus achieving quality strings and a careful finish.

Gato Negro collaborates with the Museu de la Música de Barcelona with the provision of strings for the instruments of the Interactive Room, a space where visitors can play and experiment with various instruments.
