The Musician's Table

Often the image we have of musicians, composers and artists in general is part of their working life. We see them in portraits, in concert or rehearsal situations, and almost always in relation to the professional career they have dedicated to music. The Historical Archive of the Museum contains thousands of documents that contribute to knowing and imagining these musical lives. Even so, within these funds and sets of documents, extracts from everyday life are sometimes mixed in. In this short collection of images preserved in our archives, we will see them sitting at the table, alone or in company, having meals like the ones we will experience ourselves in the coming days, in this case to celebrate the Christmas holidays with family or friends.

Miquel Llobet having breakfast alone (for those who don't want company):

And for the expatriates who are spending these holidays far from home, a letter from Pau Casals, a friend of Granados, thanking him for the congratulations he received on Christmas Day, with an amusing request: he asks Granados not to tell the mother of Casals, because he had not had time to write to her:

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
