The Directorate for Services at Municipal Buildings, part of the Manager’s Office for General Services, and the Department for Population and Electoral Processes, part of the Directorate for General Secretariat Services, are tasked with the logistics to guarantee that everything is in place for general election day on 23 July. Voters will choose the 32 members of the Spanish parliament and the 4 senators to represent the province of Barcelona.
Changes in polling stations affected by work in the summer
There are 1,217,132 people with the right vote in the city in this election, with 285 polling stations and 1,688 voting points to enable them to do so. Some 10% of these voting points, 163 in all, will be changing their location compared to the last election, owing to work being carried out to improve 32 schools used as polling stations.
General election in numbers

Tasks assigned to the Department for Maintenance and Works this year also include the preparation of envelopes with documents for voting points:
- Envelope A: 1,700 units
- Envelope B: 1,700 units
- Bag with both envelopes (A and B) and pack of pens: 1,700 units
The Municipal Data Office, specifically the Department for Statistics and Data Dissemination, has published the pre-electoral dossier, with the main data from the electoral roll and electoral process on Wednesday, 19 July. This report includes the results obtained in the various local elections, as well as surveys published up to Tuesday, 18 July.
Urgent procedures
During election day, the Monumental Citizen Help and Information Office (C/ Sicília, 216-218) will be open from 9 am to 7 pm to handle urgent procedures, such as general information on the election (voting times and any other queries), enquiries from citizens about where they must vote and the issue of certificates showing people on the Municipal Register of Residents before the electoral roll was closed and who for some reason do not figure on it. In this case, people should go to the INE, which has the power to issue a certificate enabling them to vote.
On the same Sunday, from 7 am to 11 pm, and in the days before the election, people can also get general information on the election and check which polling station corresponds to them by calling the 010 citizen helpline or visiting the procedures website.
