Cinema, science, technology and feminism in the Docs Hedy Lamarr 2023 cycle at Canòdrom

Cinema, science, technology, and feminism are joined by the Docs Hedy Lamarr 2023 documentary film cycle, which takes place at the Canòdrom – Athenaeus of Democratic Innovation during June.

The third edition of the documentary film cycle at Candrome – Athenaeus of Democratic Innovation will be held in June. It stars stories of activists who raise their voice to power, and rely on the technology and strength of the citizen organization to assert their rights.

What happens when science is influenced by major economic interests? What can we do in the face of human rights violations by governments? From the Care, Collectivity and Citizen Organization that the protagonists of the Docs cycle Hedy Lamarr 2023 try to change the world to make it fairer and more habitable. As of June 9 they begin three summer nights to rethink the role of technology and democratic innovation in reviewing the social struggles of the present and building the activism of the future.

A La belleza y el dolorwe know the story of New York counterculture photographer Nan Goldin and her activism against the pharmaceutical dynasty of the Sackler family, responsible for the largest opioids epidemic in American history. The collective force is the creator of Myanmar Diarios: a document close to citizen journalism denouncing the atrocities of the 2021 coup d’état in the country, relying on the new technologies. Organized civil society also appropriates digital tools in Bienvenidos a Chechenia. Hacking facial detection algorithms, the protagonists flee the anti-LGBTQ+ governmental “cleaning” of the Russian Chechenia Republic.
