Barcelona Security and Prevention Council
The Barcelona Security and Prevention Council, chaired by the Mayor of Barcelona, is the citizen participation body in the city's public security and prevention system.
Its origins date back to the Barcelona Urban Security Council created in 1984. It was created for the purpose of discussing public safety issues in the city with local residents, police forces and other social agents. It therefore includes a wide range of institutions, collegiate bodies, social agents, entities, local residents and groups from the worlds of academia, the information sector and the judiciary.
