Barcelona victimisation survey

This survey is a study that periodically compiles information on security in the city. It has been carried out every year since 1984, and it is one of the most wide-ranging series on the state of urban security at a local level.

The aim is to supply data on the state of security in Barcelona, in order to guide municipal management on security and coexistence issues.

The Barcelona Victimisation Survey focuses on two main areas. Firstly, it analyses the objective aspects of security, making a list of the main criminal offences that affect Barcelona's population and providing information on the characteristics of both the crimes and their victims.

Secondly, it collects the subjective opinions of city residents on some basic aspects, such as the degree of perceived security in everyday environments or the effectiveness of police actions.

Since 2016, it has also included a specific analysis by gender.
