City Police to step up breathalyser and drug-driving tests
Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the main risk factors for accidents, and preventive checks are one of the most efficient ways of avoiding the circulation of drivers and riders potentially at risk of accidents. Because of this, the City Police are launching a week-long campaign today, which will remain in place until 5 March.
The goal is to cut the number of accidents and victims alike, and more specifically to prevent and detect as many drivers as possible who test positive for drink or drug driving, adopting the appropriate enforcement measures.
The campaign will address the following conduct as a priority:
- Driving or riding over the legal limit for alcohol.
- Driving or riding with drugs in the body.
- Refusing to take detection tests when they are obligatory.
- Manoeuvres that pose a risk.
