Saturday, 20 December: Christmas procession in Barceloneta

The traditional Christmas procession in the neighbourhood of Barceloneta is being held on Saturday, 20 December, from 6 pm. The event affects various streets in the area, with the following route:

Conreria, Andrea Dòria, Atlàntida, Ginebra, Mar, Escuder, Baluard, Emília Llorca, Pg. Joan de Borbó and Escar, ending at the Confraria de Pescadors.

Sunday, 21 December: run and parade

• • Father Christmas Run

The second edition of the Father Christmas Run is being held in the Parc del Fòrum on Sunday, at 10.30 am. This is a 5 km run and is expected to affect circulation in areas in the vicinity of the park at this time.

• • 26th Father Christmas Parade in Sants

Father Christmas will be making his way along the Carretera de Sants and Creu Coberta with a grand parade starting at 5.30 pm, the route is as follows:

Av. Madrid (by Arizala, in the opposite direction), Sants, Creu Coberta, ending in Creu Coberta, between Mir Geribert and Pl. Espanya.

Disruptions to the usual circulation will apply during the event, particularly from 5.30 pm to 8 pm, with diversions in the area of Sants and Creu Coberta.

Tuesday, 23 December: Christmas activities for all the family

• • 5th Father Christmas Camp in Barceloneta

Little ones can enjoy the Disney characters at the 5th Father Christmas Camp in Barceloneta, from 11 am to 1 pm. The activity will affect various streets:

Pl. Poeta Boscà, Andrea Dòria, Salvat Papasseit, Ginebra, Pinzón, Carbonell, Maquinista, Baluard and Pl. Poeta Boscà.

There’s a circus show in the afternoon from 6 pm to 8 pm.

• • Father Christmas Parade in El Carmel

The now traditional Father Christmas Parade in a horse-drawn carriage will be making its way around the neighbourhood of El Carmel from 6 pm. The route starts in the Jardins de Juan Ponce and goes through various streets, affecting local mobility.

Mobility recommendations

• Public transport: If you use the metro or the bus, check the possible disruptions for the lines that go through these areas as some of them may be temporarily affected. Even so, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has strengthened public transport since 1 December, with more frequent bus and metro services to facilitate travel in a busy period.
• Traffic conditions: It is advisable to avoid driving close to events or to use alternative routes to avoid hold-ups. Remember that for the Christmas operation, the City Police will be paying special attention to infringements and ensuring road safety, including breathalyser tests and checks to prevent conduct posing a risk, monitoring personal mobility vehicles (PMV), bicycles and circulation in central areas.
