Visitors will be able to get a first-hand look at how the ambulances and equipment of the firefighting corps work, and take part in workshops on fire prevention, protection and CPR equipment. At the same time, children will also be able to take part in a drawing workshop.

This year sees the Barcelona Fire Service firmly backing updated training in basic life support and CPR for all its workforce, which also includes 27 nursing professionals. The training guarantees that all professionals can act swiftly and save lives in an emergency involving a cardiac arrest. The firefighting fleet is also equipped with five ambulances, all of them with automatic external defibrillators.

Besides the ambulances, defibrillators have been installed at all fire stations, on board command vehicles and on light urban fire engines.

World Restart a Heart Day is promoted by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the Catalan Resuscitation Council, which brings together various initiatives from around Catalonia to raise awareness and train people in CPR.

The initiative aims to raise public awareness on the importance of acting swiftly and efficiently in the case of cardiac arrest, which may be mortal if not addressed quickly.
