The City Police travel to Rome to share their experience in the security and protection of places of worship
The City Police took part in the third tactical training workshop in the European SPIRIT project, held at the Palazzo Valentini in Rome on 10 and 11 December. The session brought together representatives from security corps, religious leaders and experts in the protection of places of worship. Representing the city of Barcelona, the City Police brought their experience in multi-dimensional coordination and innovation in security.
The City Police played an active part in the session ‘Prevention and protection of places of worship’, where Major Intendent Josep Jordi Guerrera Nievas presented the innovative focus developed in Barcelona and shared:
- Prevention strategies: Accumulated experience in the coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
- Pilot project: Results of the tactical exercises held in Barcelona on 5 November as part of the SPIRIT project.
- International collaboration: Example of the model of collaboration between religious leaders, emergency teams and other security forces and corps.
The workshops included talks by experts from all over Europe. The participants in the session on 11 December on security in places of worship were:

- Police University of Bavaria
- Vigili del Fuoco di Roma
- Carabinieri
The participation of the City Police in this forum means recognition of its leadership, innovation and commitment to excellence in prevention and protection, consolidating its position as a key player in European security projects.
In addition, the participation of the corps in the European SPIRIT project opens up new opportunities for strengthening ties with other prestigious institutions and continuing to develop joint strategies to benefit public security.
