The Digital Tourism Treasure Hunt in Barcelona is Underway
The treasure hunt features 21 completely free self-guided digital and in-person routes.
This project, launched and funded by the Socioeconomic Boosting Grant Programme “We Boost What You Do 2021,” aims to bring the cultural heritage of Barcelona's neighbourhoods into the light all while promoting responsible, decentralised, and sustainable tourism.
Digital Tourism Treasure Hunt: Explore the Neighbourhoods of Barcelona invites participants to make a unique and enjoyable exploration of the cultural heritage of the Catalan capital. The initiative has the support of the Barcelona City Council and the economic development agency, Barcelona Activa, through the Socioeconomic Boosting Grant Programme “We Boost What You Do”, specifically from the 2021 call.
The project aims to foster responsible and sustainable tourism, highlighting the material and immaterial cultural heritage of all Barcelona’s neighbourhoods to decentralise tourism and diversify the tourism offering. This allows both visitors and residents to discover Barcelona’s rich cultural treasure.
A Decentralised Discovery
The treasure hunt features 21 completely free self-guided digital and in-person routes. It works by QR code, and along the way participants must solve various puzzles and mysteries related to the history and notable figures of each Barcelona neighbourhood. It’s a great way to come in contact with the city’s different neighbourhoods while discovering and learning through play.
