Barcelona Activa awards 7.4 million euros in subsidies in 2024
The City Council’s economic promotion agency, Barcelona Activa, executed 100% of its budget in 2024 with a valuable boost for the local economy, quality employment and small commerce in the city.
Over 1,000 beneficiaries, among companies and the self-employed, received the positive impact of subsidies directly from Barcelona Activa in 2024.
As part of the “Impulsem el que fas” pogramme, 63 empty ground-floor business premises were occupied under the “Amunt Persianes” initiative, including SSE organisations, entities with occupational projects for young people, women in situations of inequality, people in the process of migrating, sustainable tourism and responsible food and consumption.
The Crea Feina programme awarded 402 subsidies to generate quality employment with a budget of 3 million euros. Among the 32 permanent full-time jobs created, 60% were for women. The main sectors were health, technology, commerce, the food industry and renewable energies.
The “Barcelona Autòno+” programme helped 429 self-employed people with their overheads during their first year of activity. The budgetary item was used on subsidies for social security contributions, taxes, energy consumption and the rental of premises and workspaces.
