‘Louis Stettner’ exhibition

Translator of google :

The diverse range of themes examined and the constant social component of his images are the hallmarks of the oeuvre of the US photographer Louis Stettner (New York, 1922 - Paris, 2016), who had a long, fascinating career that has never earned the recognition it deserves until now.

Dividing his time between New York and Paris, Stettner had roots in both worlds at a time when most photographers had links with just one of them. In that regard, his work evokes both the aesthetics of New York street photography and the poetic gaze of traditional French urban photography over the backdrop of his social concern and determination to reflect human dignity.

This exhibition, which is made up of more than 180 photographs that cover  Stettner's entire career, aims to rectify the current lack of knowledge of his figure and the importance of his work.
