Libraries of Barcelona

The network of public libraries in the city, which currently has forty building facilities, works following four fundamental axes: the promotion of culture and education; the encouragement of reading; the promotion of social cohesion, and the management of knowledge. It does this through its collection and event programming, connected with other cultural, social, and educational agents in the territory.

Since January 2021, Libraries of Barcelona has been managing the Reading Action Program, a project that, within the framework of Barcelona City of Literature, aims to amplify and coordinate the actions to promote reading that the municipal bodies organise.
