The call for the Jan Michalski Foundation’s residence for writers is open

The stays will take place in 2023 and there is time to submit the application until September 14, 2022.

The Jan Michalski Foundation offers an original group of seven residential modules designed to house writers and translators in residence for stays of varying lengths. These homes, called “cabins”, offer the ideal conditions for those who want to start, continue or finish a writing project. The Jan Michalski Foundation is located in Montricher, Switzerland, about 30 minutes from Lausanne and one hour from Geneva.

Stays can be done individually or in pairs for projects where writing intersects with other disciplines. Forty authors from all over the world, beginners or established, benefit each year from time spent developing a writing project.

Residents will have individual accommodation in one of the seven booths for the time necessary to carry out their drafting project. This cabin allows them to live independently. For partner projects, each of the two winners will be assigned a cabin respectively. Residents’ travel costs to and from their place of residence are covered by the Foundation, and they will also be granted a monthly allowance. The Foundation’s library will be available to residents during the day, as well as a common room where they can cook and eat together. Breakfast and lunch are provided by the Foundation.

Applications can be submitted until September 14, 2022. In November, the selected residents will be announced, and the first residencies will take place in February 2023.
