The subsidised activities and projects must foster activities of public or social interest for the City of Barcelona and contribute to achieving the goals of the 2030 Barcelona Social and Economic Strategy-The reactivation and strengthening of an economy for the life of the city, and those of the 2023-2027 Municipal Promotion Plan for the Social and Solidarity Economy, promoting and reinforcing the strategy’s lines of action, including the development of common elements that define the transformational nature of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), democratic and participative management; being geared towards human needs and with a commitment to the community; and working towards minimising the climate emergency, geared towards a fair energy and ecological transformation in the City of Barcelona, in compliance with subsidy line 4335 for fostering the cooperative, social and solidarity economy, within the Barcelona City Council’s Strategic Subsidy Plan, which is included in this subsidy programme.

The projects must be related to the following activities:

Reactivation, internal strengthening and inter-cooperation activities:

• Promoting measures that generate new SSE initiatives in the city, creating jobs or maintaining existing ones, considering social justice and improved employment conditions.
• Measures to transform trading companies, economic partnerships and associations into SSE organisations that create stable, sustainable employment, considering retributive justice, without wage gaps, horizontal and vertical gender gaps and under improved working conditions.
• Promoting measures to strengthen and enhance current SSE initiatives.
• Promoting measures to improve their coordination and inter-cooperation, creating hubs that
• can scale up and help business activity to grow.
• Promoting practical actions which, within the framework of minimising the climate emergency and being geared towards a fair energy and ecological transition, become tools for dissemination and raising awareness, and for the promotion and showcasing of the SSE as an alternative economic model.
• Inter-cooperation activities directly linked to strategic lines, support levers for reaching the 2030 BCN SSE Strategy’s city objectives, and to the city projects and work groups that develop them. 

Activities contributing to the new strategic goals of the PIESS 2024-27:

• Promoting the scaling up of the SSE through various models, with growth in SSE organisations, an increase in intercooperation, attracting and retaining talent and more
• Favouring access to the SSE for the entire population, as a quality work option and an option for consuming goods and services to cover needs
• Fostering the cross-cutting nature and reference quality of the SSE in the coproduction of public policy
