17 May is an important date for LGBTI people. This is the day chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.
Since then 17 May has become the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, a day for raising awareness of LGBTI-phobia and for getting authorities and citizens interested in guaranteeing LGBTI rights around the world.
Since 2022, the LGTBI Centre has been commemorating this date with the LGBTI Centre Party, a day of recreational and cultural activities designed to celebrate and vindicate affective-sexual and gender diversity.
So this Saturday 18 May, we’ll be celebrating the LGBTI Centre Party: in the morning there will be a programme of activities for all audiences, both in the LGTBI Centre on Carrer Comte Borrell (between Parlament and Marqués de Campo Sagrado), and in the afternoon there will be concerts in Plaça Catalunya.
Here you’ll find the full programme of activities, all free to join and free of charge!
Opening and closing times of the Centre on 18, 20 and 21 May
Due to the LGBTI Centre’s Party, the Centre’s opening hours will be different this Saturday 18 May: the centre will only open from 11 am to 3 pm, and will be closed in the afternoon when the party moves to Plaça Catalunya.
On Monday 20 May the LGTBI Centre will be closed as it is a public holiday in Catalonia. The Centre will also be closed to the public on Tuesday 21 May.
The Centre will resume its usual opening hours and activities on Wednesday 22 May: 10 am to 2 pm and from 3.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
