Call for a writer-in-residence in Leeuwarden
Applications must be submitted by February 20, and the stay will take place between March 20 and April 15 this year.
Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature, in the Netherlands, offers a writer-in-residence program. The guest writer will spend nearly a month, from March 20 to April 15, researching or working on a literary project in this city. In return, they will be asked to do at least one literary performance or present a brief text for publication. During the residency, a fellow writer or poet from Leeuwarden will be their point of contact to orient themselves around the city and introduce them to the Frisian literary and cultural sector. Proposals for the residency can be submitted until February 20 to Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature.
The call is aimed at poets, writers, biographers and translators living and working in one of the UNESCO Cities of Literature. They must have at least one literary publication to their name made by a publisher. They must send a curriculum vitae and an explanation of their motivation for taking up residence in Leeuwarden, as well as detailing the literary project they plan to work on during their stay.
The guest writer will receive a bonus of €2,000 and a reimbursement of €35 per day for expenses. The rent of the flat in Leeuwarden will be paid by the organisation, while the travel expenses are covered by the guest writer.
