Call for literary residency in Wonju, South Korea

Applications can be submitted until March 16.

Wonju UNESCO City of Literature offers the opportunity for a writer from the Cities of Literature to do a residency in this city in South Korea, with accommodation at the Toji Cultural Centre for eight weeks, from September 1 to October 31, 2023.

The call is open to authors who have a close connection with the cities of literature (Barcelona is one of them). The writer’s stay will coincide with that of 16 to 19 Korean artists and authors in the Cultural Centre itself. The organisation does not ask for special requirements during the residency; simply that the author enjoys the stay and the tranquillity of the surroundings and can develop their project. It is essential, however, to have at least a B2 level of English.

The request letter must be between 1,000 and 2,000 words, setting out the author’s background, literary references, and why they are interested in doing a residency in Wonju. It must be sent by March 16 to wonjucityoflit@korea.kr.
