Women, protagonists in March at Barcelona’s libraries

Different authors will visit the facilities, and there will also be lectures and musical and family activities.

Txell Feixas, M. Àngels Cabré, Elvira Lindo and Keum Suk Gendry-Kim are some of the authors who will be visiting Barcelona’s libraries this March. It will be a particularly feminine month, not only because of the presentations of books by women writers, but also because of the other activities planned, such as conferences, thematic cycles, proposals for the canalla and also some activities related to music.

This is the case, on 9 March, of a conference at the Francesca Bonnemaison Library to reflect on intersectionality and its importance when talking about feminism. It will be based on the autobiographical book The Narrative of Sojourner Truth, by Sojourner Truth. On the same day, but at the Jaume Fuster Library, the daily life of women in the Middle Ages will be discussed with Assumpta Serra i Clota, archaeologist and doctor in Medieval History from the UB. The writer Maria Àngels Cabré will talk about Jane Austen on the 14th at the Vila de Gràcia Library and about the literary Barcelona in a feminine key on the 23rd at the Biblioteca Nou Barris.

Coinciding with World Poetry Day, on 21 March, at the Vapor Vell Library, the poet Gemma Casamajó i Solé will present her latest poem, Domèstica maragda, at the Guinardó – Mercè Rodoreda Library. And while we’re on the subject of presentations, on 16 March at the Francesca Bonnemaison Library, Txell Feixas will talk about her story Aliades. Les nenes de Xatila desafien les regles del joc with the journalist Mònica Terribas. On 29 March Keum Suk Gendry-Kim will bring The Waiting to the Ignasi Iglésias – Can Fabra Library, and the following day Elvira Lindo will present her new book, En la boca del lobo, at the Francesca Bonnemaison Library.

On 11 March, the Montserrat Abelló Library proposes an itinerary to get to know Les Corts by following the life of women artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. And the cycle “Elles canten, elles parlen” will invite on March 14th Joana Dark, a project by Ariadna Rulló that brings traditional songs to modern sounds and always from a feminine point of view.
