Comic Barcelona celebrates its 41st edition from the 31st of March to the 2nd of April with an outstanding presence of international authors.
Fira Barcelona Montjuïc will be filled with cartoons and comics from March 31 to April 2, with the 41st edition of Comic Barcelona. Whoever goes there will find exhibitions, round tables, screenings, concerts, and many other activities, in a particularly important year for the recovery of the presence of international authors. Some of the leading names will be Anne Simon, Aude Picault, Zerocalcare, Barbara Stok, Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, Igort, Léa Murawiec or Sammy Hakram. Teresa Valero is the author of the poster.
One of the highlights in exhibitions will be L’arquitectura de les vinyetes (“The architecture of vignettes”), by Daniel Torres, which will show his personal creative universe as the winner of the Gran Premi de Comic Barcelona 2022. You will also be able to see Magues de l’humor (“Sorceresses of humour”), which will bring together thirty young female graphic authors, related to comedy, who have published their work in Spain. Dibuixos i masmorres: Còmic, art i rol de David López (“Drawings and dungeons: David López’s comic, art and role-playing”) will retrace the cartoonist’s career through comic book pages, illustrations, and concept art.
The exhibitors present at the event will be distributed in different spaces, including the Alter Comic Barcelona area, for independent publishers, the Fanzine area, the Nintendo area, or Artist Alley, intended for comic book authors with published work. The central axis of the planned activities will be authorship and the history of this format in our borders, with a focus on the reader of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Comic Vision will be about the cross-fertilisation between the comic and the audiovisual format, and the Comic Fantasy will be dedicated to the relationship of the vignettes with role-playing and fantasy. There will also be Comic Pro, around professional activity with different presentations and debates related to various aspects of comic book authoring and publishing, and Comic Kids, with comic book workshops, comic storytelling, meetings with children’s and youth comic book authors and other proposals for the young ones in the family.
The 41 Comic Barcelona has the support of the Barcelona City Council, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Acció Cultural Espanyola (AC/E) and the Carnet Jove.
Tickets are priced between €8 and €38. All the information on Comic Barcelona, here.
