International Residence for Writers in Reykjavik

The call for applications is open until 14 June.

Reykjavik UNESCO City of Literature announces the 2024 call for International Residency Program for writers.

The Program is open to all writers, editors, translators and poets who have at least one published book and are currently working on a piece of writing. The Residency Program is a perfect opportunity to professionalise your writing skills, find the right conditions for creative work and present your own writing to a new audience. The deadline for submitting applications is 14 June.

The writer will be offered a two-week stay, from 1 to 14 October, and the residents will stay at Gröndal’s house in the old town of Reykjavik. In addition to a grant of 650 euros, the organisation will cover the cost of transport to and from Reykjavik. Reykjavik City of Literature will guarantee residents the opportunity to participate in the literary life of the city and help develop opportunities for them to promote their work in Iceland.

Some of the requirements to be fulfilled by the person who wishes to apply for the residence are:

– To have a connection with any UNESCO City of Literature outside Iceland.
– To have at least one published book (fiction or non-fiction), a collection of poetry, a script or theatrical script.
– To work on a literary project during the residency.
– To have a medium-high level of spoken English.
