Barcelona, guest city of the Angoulême 2025 comics festival
The most important event of the comic genre in Europe will celebrate the new edition from 29th January to 2nd February.
Barcelona’s comics will play a special role in the Angulême International Comics Festival 2025. The organisers of the event, the most important in Europe and a world reference, have chosen Barcelona as the guest city for the next edition, which will take place from 29 January to 2 February.
The invitation will bring the work of the city’s authors to a very specialised public, made up of both professionals in the sector (publishers, creators) and, above all, fans. The invitation comes within the framework of the UNESCO Network of Cities of Literature: both Barcelona and Angoulême are members, and every year the FIBD takes the opportunity to showcase the talent and literary creativity of the members of this prestigious literary circuit.
During the festival, Barcelona will have a space in the UNESCO Pavilion in Angoulême where, together with the Barcelona City Council’s Institute of Culture, a public programme representative of the city’s comic sector will be presented. The activities will be designed in collaboration with FICOMIC, Biblioteques de Barcelona and Institut Ramon Llull. The FIBD, which was founded half a century ago (on 25 January 1974) and which in recent years has attracted around 200,000 visitors per year, offers an extensive programme of activities with presentations of new products, exhibitions, signings and other proposals.
