Open call for a literary residency in Tartu
Writers and translators from all over the world are eligible for a creative stay in the Estonian literary city.
Tartu City of Literature has opened the call for applications for its 2024 autumn residency, aimed at international literary writers and translators. This residency offers a unique opportunity to work on creative projects in an inspiring environment, in the city of Tartu, recognised by UNESCO as a City of Literature. The stay lasts two months, November and December 2024, and includes free accommodation in the city centre, a monthly grant of 600 euros and up to a maximum of 350 euros for the round trip. The deadline for submitting applications is 25 September.
Writers and translators with an active interest in Estonian literature and projects that benefit from Tartu’s cultural environment are eligible. During their stay, residents will have the opportunity to participate in local events, collaborate with Tartu’s literary community and explore the city. In addition, residents are encouraged to organise a public activity, such as a reading, workshop or talk, to share their work with the local public. It is essential to have an intermediate or superior level of spoken English.
Interested applicants must submit a form including a CV, a letter of motivation and a sample of previous work.
