The CCCB invites the writer Kopano Maltwa
She will talk on January 18 with the journalist Xavier Aldekoa.
Writer and doctor Kopano Matlwa is considered one of the most important young literary voices in South Africa. On January 18 at 6.30 pm she will be at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) to talk to the journalist Xavier Aldekoa, a correspondent in Africa, about how the new generations face the legacy of apartheid.
With books like Coconut and Florescència (Sembra Llibres and Alpha Decay), Matlwa suggests the impossibility of looking to the future without closing the wounds that still hurt in the present. What role can literature play in this task? Where is South Africa heading twenty-seven years after abolishing apartheid?
The event will combine Catalan and English, with simultaneous translation in both languages.
The CCCB Hall capacity will be limited according to the current health regulations and it is recommended to buy tickets in advance online. The price is 3 €. It can also be followed live on the CCCB website. The activity is part of the William Kentridge program, the colonial scar.
