'Girem Full!', reading for research against cancer

Solidarity initiative in which different bookshops in the city are taking part and which will last until 23 April.

The passion for reading and the fight against cancer come together in the “Girem Full!” solidarity initiative. It is open to everyone’s participation. You are invited to read as many books as you wish until 23 April, Sant Jordi. When you buy a book in one of the bookshops taking part in the campaign, you will be given a free “Girem Full!” bookmark, and when you have finished reading it, you must return the bookmark filled in with the information about the book you have read.

Then all these bookmarks will be collected and transformed into research time: each book is equivalent to 10 minutes of research, and therefore 6 books are equivalent to 1 hour of research. The campaign has the support of reading sponsors who collaborate financially with the project, and for each book that arrives they will donate 20 euros to convert it into hours of research. If you want, you can also collaborate by making a donation.

“Girem Full!” promotes the ARI Project and, with it, the research of new immunotherapy treatments against cancer at the Clínic, in order to make them accessible through the Public Health System. Under the leadership of the Clínic Cancer Center, this project represents a significant advance in the fight against cancer and hopes for a future with personalised therapies for everyone.

The initiative is organised by Gremi de Llibreters, Fundació Collserola and Amics del Clínic, with the collaboration of some fifteen bookshops in Barcelona. All the information is available at this link.
