The Biennial of Thought closes its fourth edition with success

Under the slogan ‘The Day After It All, the event consolidates itself as the epicentre of critical reflection.

The Biennial of Thought closed its fourth edition this Sunday after six intense days of debates, reflections and stage activities that attracted thousands of people to different venues in Barcelona. With the slogan ‘The Day After It All’, the event once again demonstrated the public’s interest in shared ideas and reflection.

The opening was marked by the intervention of the playwright and director Wajdi Mouawad, while other prominent figures, such as the philosopher Jacques Rancière, the writer Herta Müller and the activist Oyèronké Oyewùmí, took part in some of the most crowded sessions, with an intergenerational attendance.

One of the most special moments of this edition was the Poetic Manifesto for the Present, by David Uclés, Míriam Hatibi, Anna Andreu, Miqui Otero, Paula Ducay, Josep Pedrals, Joana Gomila and Laia Vallès, which served to symbolically close six days devoted to critical thought. This proposal is based on the Poetic Manifesto for the Future, written by Enric Casasses at the first edition of the Biennial.

During this fourth edition, the Biennial has explored themes such as democracy, feminism, the climate crisis, transhumanism and post-colonialism, creating spaces for debate that have invited the public to think about global challenges.

With an eye to future editions, the Biennial of Thought leaves a legacy that will be collected in a special publication, in which various philosophers will hold literary debates on the themes dealt with in this edition.
