Open call for applications for the 2025 literary residencies in Ljubljana

Stays in the Slovakian capital will last one month, and there is time to submit applications until 21 January.

Ljubljana, capital of Slovakia and UNESCO City of Literature since 2015, opens the call for its literary residencies at the Švicarija Creative Centre. Specifically, it offers two one-month stays in this brand new 2025: from 1 to 30 April and from 1 to 30 November.

The aim of the residency is to provide time and space for writing, while offering opportunities to participate in the rich artistic scene of Ljubljana, known for its international festivals and literary events. The call is open to writers who have a direct relationship with another UNESCO City of Literature (such as Barcelona). Candidates must have published at least one book of fiction (novel, poetry or play). There are no age, gender or nationality restrictions.

What does the residence offer?
Each resident will receive a grant of €1,250 gross, full accommodation in a self-catering apartment at the Švicarija Creative Centre, local transport cover and support in getting to know the literary community of Ljubljana. Public presentations, meetings with publishers or translators, and other activities can also be organised according to the needs of the resident.

Applications must be submitted before 21 January 2025 via an online form. You will find more information on this link.
