Prague announces a residency for writers and translators
Applications can be submitted until 20 August.
Prague City of Literature UNESCO announces the opening of the call for applications for the Foreign Writers and Translators in Residence Programme 2025. This initiative is aimed at writers and translators who wish to work on their literary projects while enjoying the cultural environment of Prague.
The programme offers eight two-month residencies, to be held between February and November 2025. Those selected will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in local literary life, participate in readings, meetings with students and other cultural activities. They will have to work on their writings during the stay and provide a text inspired by their experience at the Prague Municipal Library. You must have a basic knowledge of English and at least one published play or two radio dramas that have been broadcast or published, or one play that has been staged or published, or at least one translated work by a Czech author.
Applications can be submitted until 20 August 2024 via the online form. The results will be communicated by 31 October 2024. Participants will receive accommodation, covered travel expenses and a monthly grant of CZK 15,000 (about €595) from the organisation.
