Publishing Scotland opens a fund for the translation of texts by Scottish writers
The period for submitting applications will end on 22 January 2024.
In order to support publishers based outside the UK who wish to translate Scottish authors, Publishing Scotland, on behalf of Creative Scotland, is opening a fund to cover translation fees. The funding will be offered in the form of grant in GBP and will only cover translation costs.
The call is aimed at the publishing sector and, if you wish to apply, applications must be received before 22 January 2024. According to Publishing Scotland, priority will be given to translations of contemporary literature, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s literature and graphic novels. The evaluation criteria include the merit of the work to be translated, the publisher’s financial need, the publisher’s and translator’s trajectory and the proposed marketing plan. A group of experts will meet twice a year to evaluate the applications.
You will find all the details of the call for applications at this link.
