A book brings together the best Domènech i Montaner specialists
The presentation will take place on Monday 18 December at 6 p.m. in the Rehearsal Hall of Orfeó Català of Palau de la Música Catalana.
In the centenary year of the death of Lluís Domènech i Montaner, Barcelona City Council and Triangle Books bring together in a single book the best specialists on the architect and his buildings, with the aim of understanding the multifaceted personality and interpreting the work of a leading artist in the history of European art.
The volume is entitled Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Home of the Renaissance. Arquitecte del Modernisme, and will be presented on Monday 18 December at 6 p.m. in the Rehearsal Hall of Orfeó Català of Palau de la Música Catalana. Mireia Freixa, editor of the book; Marta Grassot, Director of CEDOC, Documentation Centre of Orfeó Català; Clàudia Sanmartí, Fundació Lluís Domènech i Montaner and Gemma Martí, CEDIM, both co-curators of Any Domènech i Montaner 2023, will take part in the event. The event will be closed by Lluís Domènech i Girbau, member of the Board of Trustees of Fundació Orfeó Català-Palau de la Música Catalana, vice-president of the Board of Directors of Orfeó Català.
The book begins with introductory articles that present the architect in the context of European Art Nouveau and explain his different facets: civic, political, academic… and continues with monographs of his buildings, from Editorial Montaner i Simon (1979-1881) to Casa Fuster (1908-1911), including, of course, Palau de la Música and Hospital de Sant Pau, both World Heritage Sites.
