Would you like to do a literary residency in Kraków?
Emerging writers and poets who have at least one published book are eligible for this call.
You have until 31 May to submit your application to apply for a literary residency in Kraków, organised by this UNESCO City of Literature. The programme is aimed at emerging writers and poets who have at least one published book and are currently working on a writing project. They must be willing to learn about the Polish literary community, and those selected will have a perfect opportunity to professionalise their writing skills, find the right conditions for creative work and present it to a new audience.
The stay will be for two months, from 1 September to 31 October next year, and the accommodation will be in the apartment of Czesław Miłosz, Polish poet and Nobel Prize winner. In addition to the amount of the grant (2700 PLN gross/month, about 622 €), the organisation will cover the costs of transport to and from Kraków. The Kraków Festival Office will guarantee residents the opportunity to participate in the literary life of the city and help develop opportunities for residents to promote their work in Poland.
In addition to meeting the above-mentioned requirements, you must also take into account that if you wish to apply for this residency you must have a medium-high level of spoken English, and during your stay you must write a text (between 6,000 and 11,000 characters) of fiction or non-fiction in which the city of Kraków is featured. This text will be used in the future by the organisation for promotional purposes.
