Who we are
Barcelona City Council promotes the Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS) as a strategic commitment for the transformation of Barcelona. Through the economic model that we defend, the city becomes more democratic, sustainable, collaborative and equitable with the well-being of citizens at the center.
The public policy to promote the SSE of the Barcelona City Council is organized in the following structures:
- The Directorate of Social and Solidarity Economy Services and Sustainable Food and the Department of Social and Solidarity Economy of Barcelona City Council.
- The Operational Directorate of Socioeconomic Innovation of Barcelona Activa.
The Directorate of Social and Solidarity Economy Services and Sustainable Food and the Department of Social and Solidarity Economy of Barcelona City Council
The objective of the Social and Solidarity Economy and Sustainable Food Services Directorate and the Social and Solidarity Economy Department of Barcelona City Council is to build a plural, sustainable, fair and participatory economy. To do this, it promotes, promotes and gives visibility to the cooperative, social and solidarity economy of the city, and contributes to the maintenance and new creation of jobs, as well as mechanisms for satisfying non-monetary needs.
The Operational Directorate of Socioeconomic Innovation of Barcelona Activa
From the Socioeconomic Innovation area of Barcelona Activa we promote and strengthen entrepreneurial initiatives, entities and companies in the field of the social and solidarity economy (SSE) of the city, incorporating the perspective of socio-economic innovation.
We cooperate in the promotion and consolidation of cooperative, community and transformative projects, through support and training, for sustainable and local development. All this, with the intention of raising awareness of the SSE, helping to deploy it and ensuring that the projects we promote have an impact on the economy as a whole. All this is carried out from InnoBA, the center for socio-economic innovation of Barcelona Activa.
