The Lordimas platform at the meeting organised by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces
Evaluation of the digital maturity of cities with the Lordimas tool as part of the meeting “Towards increased digitalisation of Spanish cities and regions”.
The Municipal Institute of Information Technology (IMI) moderated a round table on 18 September about evaluating the digital maturity of cities with the Lordimas tool. The session was part of the meeting “Towards increased digitalisation of Spanish cities and regions”, organised by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). Held at IFEMA Madrid, several Spanish cities took part in the session and shared digitalisation projects designed to improve life in cities.
The meeting is part of an EU initiative to provide support for cities in the early stages of their journey towards digital transformation, offering resources, best practices and training for developing digitalisation strategies.
One of these resources is the Lordimas platform, jointly headed by Barcelona and the European Committee of the Regions.
The IMI presented the Lordimas platform. This interactive tool measures the digital maturity of cities with an online test assessing seven areas through local and regional digital indicators. The platform has the advantage of offering local governments and data administrators the capacity of gauging their digital maturity and getting access to incalculable knowledge. Lordimas stands out for its dynamic nature, which allows authorities to review and update their data, ensuring they keep up with changing challenges and needs.
The tool also stands out for its unique capacity to allow authorities to centre on their specific digital goals, moving away from generalised digital roadmaps and guaranteeing alignment with key strategy concepts on data and the smart city.
The session also highlighted the role of Lordimas as a space for collaboration and learning in good practices between its members, inviting other cities to join. Spain is the country with the most cities on the platform, 21 out of total of 75 in the whole of Europe.
In short, Lordimas promotes the exchange of data, comparative assessment and collaboration between local and regional authorities. In doing so, it allows users to release their digital potential, learn from one another and adopt decisive measures towards more efficient governance, at the same time promoting open data initiatives in the whole of Europe.
