The LGBTI centre is to celebrate Sant Jordi / St George's Day with a "Dissident readings” literary gathering

Ian Bermúdez, Yannick Garcia, Pol Guasch, Maria Rodó-Zárate and Raquel Santanera are taking part in the event, which has been organised in collaboration with the Catalan-Language Writers Association.

The LGBTI Centre is organising a literary gathering for Sant Jordi /St George’s Day to present the latest works of various writers. Entitled “Dissident readings: Catalan LGBTIQ literature”, the event has been organised in collaboration with the Association of Catalan Language Writers (AELC). You will be able to follow it live on YouTube from 6 pm on Tuesday, 20 April.

AELC spokesperson, Anna Pantinat, will introduce the meeting, with the following authors taking part:

  • Ian Bermúdez. A poet, writer and translator. He has written a book of poetry entitled Ser h(u)ome*∞(à) and the graphic novel Tránsito. He is currently working on his first collection of short stories and his second graphic novel.
  • Yannick Garcia. A translator of Ocean Vuong’s book On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous (Catalan title En aquest món, per un moment, som grandiosos), a global phenomenon of queer writing.
  • Pol Guasch.  The author of a book of poems entitled Tanta gana(Francesc Garriga Award) and the novelNapalm al cor, Llibres Anagrama Novel Award.
  • Maria Rodó- Zárate. University researcher and essayist. She will be speaking about her new book,  Interseccionalitat. Desigualtats, llocs i emocions. 
  • Raquel Santanera. Poet. She is the author of two books aimed at debunking gender binarism and speciesism, as well as exploring the limits of human nature as we have conceived it up to now: Teologia poètica d’un sol ús, where she proposes her “Manifest babaista”, and De robots i màquines o un nou tractat d’alquímia.
