The Barcelona LGBTI Centre will be closed on Monday 31 October and Tuesday 1 November for the public holiday on the first of November. The Centre will open as usual on 2 November (from 10 am to 2 pm and from 3.30 pm to 8.30 pm) in order to continue offering its services.

The celebrations of 31 October and 1 November are shared by people of diverse faiths, traditions and beliefs.

These dates are associated with magic, mystery, horror and everything to do with the occult, but also with absence, mourning, death and its rituals. And it is these themes, together with others such as fate and dissidence, that we are called to reflect on in October, November and December in the series of talks on “Spiritualities” at the LGTBI Centre.

Death, understood as a passage, as a great transformation, is one of the big issues we’ll be addressing in these talks, and on which we aim to open up a conversation with plenty of questions.

What happens when a queer person dies?
How can we support dissident people at the end of their lives?
What challenges and possibilities does spirituality offer us in dying?
How can we ritualise the death beyond the institutions and the bureaucracy that hinder the rites of passage?
Which ceremonies, knowledge, experiences, narratives and world views can we explore around the end of life?
How can we find spiritualities where all kinds of love and identities are possible and celebrated?

To address these questions we have organised two activities:

”Morir guay” [Dying well] (29 November, 6 pm). Round table led by DU-DA, a collective that asks questions about ways of cohabiting to imagine other possible presents-futures based on critical sensibilities. Free admission but places are limited.

”Morir queer” [Dying queer](14 December from 4 pm to 8 pm). Training for people who accompany others at the end of their lives. Run by Som Provisionals, a group of people who work for a self-managed and sovereign end of life experience. Sold out.

All other activities in this series of talks can be found at this link.

We wish everyone a good bank holiday and we’ll see you again on 2 November!
