As it does every summer since 2008, Barcelona will be giving voice and visibility to the LGTBIQ+ community by organising this festive event celebrating self-acceptance and pride as well as defending legal rights. What’s more, this year it includes two sporting activities that will allow everyone in the city to join the struggle for rights and freedoms and get some great exercise at the same time.
The high heels race is due to take place on 24 June, and will be starting out from Av. Reina Maria Cristina at 7 pm. You don’t need to register to take part, and there’s a €300 prize on offer.
Added to this, there will be another sporting event for kids the next day, Saturday, 25 June. They’ll be able to get fit at 12 noon, also in Av. Reina Maria Cristina.
An event to celebrate and to promote LGTBIQ+ rights
More than 250,000 people join in the Barcelona PRIDE celebrations each year! This makes it one of the most popular events in Europe, and demonstrates the city’s firm commitment to diversity. The festival includes big events such as the demonstration and massive concerts, as well as social and cultural activities such as conferences, talks, films and exhibitions. All of them are for everyone, and there will be a team of volunteers out there working to achieve the ultimate objectives: increasing visibility, raising awareness, and generating debate.
