The Barcelona LGBTI Centre is offering the exhibition ‘Colouring Diversity’ throughout February. The display features twenty works entered for the 1st LGBTI Illustration Competition, organised in October as part of the Barcelona Dibuixa festival.
The exhibition is one of the initiatives through which the LGBTI Centre aims to foster creative and artistic expression in the realm of sexual and gender diversity. Created by people who live, work or study in Barcelona, the goal of the works is to help people engage with and discover the LGBTI reality, away from clichés and stereotypes, to combat LGBTI-phobia and to promote a fairer and more egalitarian society. Using different styles and techniques, the works explore things such as family relationships, support networks, relational models and ethnic and bodily diversity.
The exhibition also includes the three winning pieces from the competition: Cobretaula de la iaia, by Nil Molina Rebrà; Familia escogida, by Belo C. Atande and Carla Gallén, and Golden slumbers, by Daniel Torrent Riba.
‘Colouring Diversity’ is open to the public during the usual opening hours for the LGBTI Centre: Monday, from 4 pm to 8 pm, and Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm.
